Addition (Covered Parking)

a)	Staff notes that the proposed scope of work is to remove the existing side porch and construct a covered parking area. 
b)	Staff notes the proposed covered parking addition would require a variance through the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals. 
c)	Question the appropriateness of the proposed covered parking addition and its overall compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood. 
d)	Appendix 1(2) of the Secretary of Interior Standards states the historic character of a property shall be retained and preserved. The removal of historic materials or alteration of features and spaces that characterize a property shall be avoided. Additionally, Appendix 1(5) of the Secretary of Interior Standards states “Distinctive features, finishes, and construction techniques or examples of craftsmanship that characterize a property shall be preserved.” Staff notes the applicant is proposing to remove the existing side porch to accommodate the new roof structure.
