Title: A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING REPUBLIC SERVICES AS THE CITY'S PREFERRED TRASH AND RECYCLING VENDOR AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A SERVICE CONTRACT WITH REPUBLIC SERVICES. Brief Description: The City of Hudson's existing preferred trash and recycling hauler agreement will expire on March 31, 2022. A new contract was put out to public bid and evaluated by the Public Works Department staff. As directed by City Council, the bid documents for this service requested bidders to provide pricing for three (3) service options. Staff presented the bid tabulations and the service options for based on the bid amounts at the December 14, 2021 Council Workshop. Council instructed staff to continue to offer a Preferred Hauler Program for the next 3-year term at the provided price points. Staff wishes to execute the formal resolution at this time.

Purpose & Explanation

At the December 14, 2021 City Council Workshop, Public works staff presented the trash and recycling program bid tabulation and reviewed the available options for service. A bid tabulation for each option has been attached for reference. Following review and discussion of the bids and program options, Council instructed staff to continue to offer a Preferred Hauler Program (Option # 1) with Republic Services as the lowest and best bidder for trash and recycling services for the next 3-year term running from April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2025

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that Council pass the Resolution designating Republic Services as the City’s Preferred Trash and Recycling Hauler for a 3-year term commencing on April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2025 at the submitted bid pricing.
