A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND INSPECTION SERVICES WITH QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTION, INC.
Brief Description: The City of Hudson Engineering Department currently performs public inspections with our staff and the City also contracts with a private construction management service on the road programs. In addition to the road programs, the City may decide to utilize the construction management/inspection services on other miscellaneous capital improvement projects and for private developments as they arise within the City.

Purpose & Explanation
City staff performs most construction inspection in-house. During the busiest, construction time of year, City staff will require as-needed, short-term inspection support from an outside construction inspection consultant. The Hudson engineering department requested proposals from five (5) consultants for as-needed, inspection services and received a proposal from the following firms along with their hourly rate for construction inspection services for the City of Hudson:

Timing Considerations
With the approval of this Resolution, the City of Hudson would enter into and fully execute a contract with QCI, Inc. The new contract agreement will be for 2 years, beginning on March 2, 2020 and expiring on March 1, 2022.

Suggested Action
Staff recommends that with the level of service that QCI, Inc. has provided to the City of Hudson over the past several years, along with the large number of inspection personnel that QCI, Inc. can provide to the City, that City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with QCI, Inc. for project representation beginning March 2, 2020 and ending on March 1, 2022 as detailed above.
