Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE VETERAN’S WAY RETAINING WALL PROJECT.

Brief Description:   This project includes the repair to an existing block retaining wall behind the sidewalk on Veteran’s Way near Milford Road.

Body

Legislative History

24-60 - Enter into design contract with Osborn Engineering; 5/21/2024

Purpose & Explanation

City staff identified that an existing block retaining wall, originally constructed with the Milford Road Connector project in 2005, has begun to deteriorate.  The wall, located near the Veterans’ Way bridge over the railroad, at 61 Milford Road, is deteriorating due to runoff, weather and other factors.

The project is currently being designed by Osborn Engineering and will be bid out in the Summer of 2026.

The estimated project cost of construction is $225,000 which includes contingency.

Following the approval of this Resolution by City Council, the Engineering Department will advertise in the local newspaper and receive bids for this project.  Staff will only return to Council if the bids received are in excess of 10% of the Engineer’s Estimate; otherwise, the City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder.
