Title
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR COMPETITIVE BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT FOR THE W. STREETSBORO STREET SIDEWALK INSTALLATION PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Brief Description: The project includes the installation of a new sidewalk along W. Streetsboro Street (SR 303) from Nicholson Drive to W. Case Drive.
Body
Legislative History
None.
Purpose & Explanation
This sidewalk project will be designed by in-house staff and will include the installation of a 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along SR 303 between Nicholson Drive and W. Case Drive. The sidewalk construction also includes storm drainage improvements, grading, crosswalks, lighting, electric conduits, driveways, and minor clearing and restoration.
The estimated total cost of construction is $817,000, which includes a 10% contingency. The City will return to City Council if the cost exceeds the above total cost of the project.
This project's bid was originally scheduled for 2024. Staff is requesting to move the bid to 2023, as it has identified that bidding this project in conjunction with the SR 303 Waterline Transmission Line Replacement project later this summer will result in an overall cost savings. This project will be bid at the same time as the SR 303 Water Transmission Line Replacement Project and will be installed after the waterline project is completed.
