AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PART FOUR, “TRAFFIC CODE,” OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES, TO AMEND CHAPTER 410 TRAFFIC SCHEDULES.

Purpose & Explanation

At the October 22, 2024 Council Workshop, concerns regarding landscape vehicles parking on city streets, creating hazardous driving conditions, particularly during peak school bus drop-off and pick-up times were noted.

The Traffic Safety Committee subsequently reviewed the issue and recommended a registration process for landscape vehicles, like the existing Snowplow Registration program. This recommendation included updating relevant ordinances to address landscape vehicle parking on the identified streets during the specified times.   The Traffic Safety Committee noted that the worst problem areas include portions of Aurora Street, Middleton Road, North Oviatt Street, North Hayden Parkway, and Franklin Street, specifically between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 and 6:00 p.m.

At the March 11, 2025 Council Workshop , City Council requested a broader ban on landscape vehicle parking by including major arterial roads. Based on City Council’s request, City Staff spoke with Traffic Safety Committee, Hudson Police, and Hudson Schools and updated the Codified Ordinances to include those roads highlighted on the map included as an attachment.
