Brief Description: This motion would authorize the City Manager to move forward with the design of the new sidewalk along the west side of Valley View Road from Hunting Hollow Drive to Hines Hill Road, the east side of Valley View Road from Hines Hill Road to Wethersfield Drive, and the north side of Hines Hill Road from Granby Drive to Glastonbury Drive.

Purpose & Explanation
On August 27, 2024, city staff, along with the City’s consultant AECOM, reviewed the proposed alignment for a new sidewalk along Valley View Road from Hunting Hollow Dr. to Middleton Road and Hines Hill Road from SR 91 to Valley View Road. City Council agreed to proceed with the design as follows:
- The west side of Valley View Road from Hunting Hollow Drive to Hines Hill Road.
- The east side of Valley View Road from Hines Hill Road to Wethersfield Drive.
- The north side of Hines Hill Road from Granby Drive to Glastonbury Drive.
The estimated costs for each section are:
- Valley View Road (Hunting Hollow Dr - Hines Hill Road) - $915,000
- Valley View Road (Hines Hill Road - Wethersfield Dr.) - $730,000
- Hines Hill Road (Granby Dr - Glastonbury Dr.) - $410,000
Total estimated cost for all 3 sections is $2,055,000
City Staff will return to City Council with updated cost estimates and a request to bid and award the contract for the new sidewalk later this fall ahead of bidding the project.

The City Manager recommends City Council approve the AECOM recommendations and make a motion to proceed with the proposed sidewalk alignment along Valley View Road and Hines Hill Road as described above.
