Executive Summary: City Council will consider amendments to the Codified Ordinances pertaining to the Economic Growth Board.

Ordinance No. 11-13, amending Code regarding Economic Growth Board’s composition, terms, powers and duties, passed January 19, 2011.
Purpose & Explanation
With passage of this Ordinance, Codified Ordinances Section 295.01, Composition and Terms, would be amended to change the composition of the Economic Growth Board (EGB) to not less than five (5) and not more than nine (9) members. Board membership currently shall not exceed seven (7) members.
In addition, Section 295.02, Powers and Duties, would be amended to reflect the following, as discussed at the August 25, 2015, workshop:
“The Hudson Economic Growth Board shall:
1. Act as an advisory board to the City Manager, staff and Council on the major economic development initiatives that are in the process of planning and implementation.
2. Provide valuable transition assistance during transitions in staffing.
3. Act as technical assistance to both the city and its citizens and businesses in economic development matters but especially through the large priority projects.
4. Work toward the development and dissemination of public education and awareness of what economic development is and why it’s important to the Hudson community.
5. Assist in organizing events that will provide opportunities to promote economic development.
6. Implement performance measures for economic development and, with the administrative staff, report results to Council on a semi-annual basis.
7. Report to Council as to all matters which the Board and/or administrative staff has under consideration.”
