A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH PFUND SUPERIOR SALES CO., INC. FOR A NEW AMBULANCE VEHICLE FOR USE BY THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

Purpose & Explanation

Council had previously approved, via the five-year plan, the replacement of our 2018 Chevy/Excellance Ambulance unit # 4012 in 2026 at an estimated cost of $500,000. Due to the exceptional performance, superior warranty and anticipated longevity of the new Life Line Ambulance purchased in 2022, we have begun transitioning away from the smaller, rechassied vehicles. The modular box on unit # 4012 is a 2005 and is approaching its maximum life expectancy. We are requesting permission to appropriate $500,000 in 2025 for this project.  We would then reduce the EMS 2026 budget by $500,000 in the first quarter of 2026.

Due to long delays now associated with acquiring any new ambulance we would like to order this ambulance now in order to reduce the potential for anticipated price increases that are reported to be occurring after the first of the year. If scheduled for purchase in 2025 the delivery would be anticipated in mid-2028.

The total (Ohio STS Procurement Program) estimated cost for this ambulance will not exceed $500,000
