A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE TO UPDATE THE CITY’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Brief Description: The comprehensive plan steering committee was established by City Council and authorized to prepare recommendation within twelve months of their initial meeting (January 11, 2023). The Committee has completed significant work to date; however, a draft plan is not anticipated for a few additional months.

Purpose & Explanation
The Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee has been working to prepare a draft Comprehensive Plan for City Councils consideration. The ordinance enabling the committee acknowledged an anticipated twelve-month schedule to prepare the plan from their first meeting. The Committee conducted their first meeting on January 11, 2023. Since that time, the committee has completed:
o 18 full committee meetings
o 5 subcommittee meetings
o Community wide workshop
o Focus group meetings
o Statistically valid survey
o Attended numerous farmers markets and community events
The committee is targeting a community meeting in early 2024 regarding the draft plan framework prior to forwarding a formal draft document to City Council in 2024.
Staff requests Council authorization to extend the Committees work until November 1, 2024 to allow the draft plan to be prepared and the Council review and adoption process to be completed.
