Title: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH HUDSON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION REGARDING A SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM AND ACCEPTING A DONATION FOR A PASSENGER VAN. Brief Description: This initiative arose in 2025 when the Hudson Senior Network Foundation (HSN) and Hudson Community Foundation (HCF) raised funds for a Senior project. The Senior Transportation Program was recognized as a need in the community. The HSN began researching a program in an adjacent community that provides a similar service and they along with HCF began collecting donations. To date, the groups have raised the needed costs for a passenger van (estimated State Bid Cost $58,000) and are asking the City to accept the donation to purchase the van and provide a senior transportation program to Hudson residents over the age of 65 years of age.

Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH HUDSON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION REGARDING A SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM AND ACCEPTING A DONATION FOR A PASSENGER VAN.

Purpose & Explanation

The proposed Senior Transportation Van would be made possible through a $58,000 donation from the Hudson Senior Network Foundation and the Hudson Community Foundation, which will fund the purchase.

The proposed Senior Transportation Program will be administered by the City of Hudson, which will oversee all aspects of scheduling, staffing, maintenance, and insurance for the senior van. The service is designed to support essential trips for Hudson residents, including medical appointments and pharmacy visits, as well as grocery needs, HSN events at City Hall during the program days and hours as approved by the City Manager.

The program will serve all Hudson residents living within the corporate limits who are 65 years of age or older and able to ambulate independently. No income restrictions apply. Eligible trips are limited to destinations within a six-mile radius of the center of Hudson (the intersection of SR 91 and SR 303) to support timely service and consistent scheduling.

Residents will schedule transportation through the City’s Public Works Recreation Management System, where they will submit their appointment details and destination address, a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. Once scheduled and approved, the City’s driver will arrive during the assigned pickup time and transport them to their appointment. After the appointment concludes, the driver will return for pickup at the designated time and ensure the resident arrives safely back home. This structured process, from online scheduling to pick up and return, provides a reliable, predictable service that supports independence and access to essential services for Hudson’s senior community.
