Brief Description:  The proposed ordinance will establish a resident steering committee to guide the collective work of city staff and the consultant for the 2023 Comprehensive Plan update and provide recommendation to City Council regarding the adoption of the draft plan.

22-0008 - January 25, 2022 - City Council Workshop:  Staff presented the Hudson Snapshot report, which summarized existing conditions in key areas including demographics, housing, utilities, transportation, and environmental. 

 

22-0032 - March 22, 2022 - City Council Workshop:  Staff presented the proposed Framework of the plan including general timeline, steering committee composition, and research of peer cities scope/cost.    

 

TMP-6035 - April 26, 2022- City Council Workshop:  Staff presented the proposed steering committee selection process and the draft request for proposal for the consultant. 

Purpose & Explanation

The City’s Comprehensive Plan establishes a ten-year vision and strategic direction for the community on topics including land use, housing, public infrastructure, transportation, and more.

 

The 19 member steering committee would be comprised of the following members:

 

A.                     Council appointed representatives of the following boards (one each):

o                     Architectural and Historic Board of Review

o                     Board of Zoning and Building appeals

o                     Planning Commission

o                     Park Board

o                     Economic Growth Board

 

B.                     One residents representative (seven total) selected as a direct appointment by each City Council member

 

C.                     Seven residents appointed by City Council through an open application process

 

The Committee is anticipated to meet monthly for an approximately twelve-month period to guide the plan preparation and to forward recommendation to City Council regarding adoption.
