Brief Description: This agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation is for the resurfacing of Boston Mills Road from SR 303 to W. Corporation Limit.

Purpose & Explanation
In 2025, the City applied for and was awarded federal funds for a future asphalt road resurfacing project along Boston Mills Road between W. Streetsboro Street (SR 303) and the Western Corp. Line of Hudson. Reference map attached. The funds are distributed by the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
With this grant funding, ODOT has a process that allows local public agencies (LPA), like Hudson, to administer projects that will use State or Federal funding. The process requires the LPA to enter into an agreement with ODOT for this process. The agreement requires the LPA to follow the State process for the contract. The LPA process allows for more local control of the design and construction.
The Boston Mills Road Resurfacing Project costs will be paid for with Federal funds at a maximum amount of $1,100,000. The grant is eligible for construction and inspection costs.
The current construction cost estimate, with contingency, for this project is $1,250,000 and the City is responsible for all costs above the grant amount of $1,100,000. Construction of the project is scheduled for 2031, when federal funds are available.
This project included a 2” depth of asphalt milling, full depth asphalt repairs, pavement fabric, chip seal, intermediate and surface course asphalt, restriping and handicap ramp repairs. Design will be completed in-house is anticipated to take place in 2028, with construction in 2031.
