Brief Description:   This Resolution increases the annual contract amount of the snow and ice control program for Public Properties.

Body

Legislative History

Res. 25-38

Res. 23-162

Purpose & Explanation

The City Administration requested City Council approval to advertise, bid and award contracts and make purchases for the 2024 Public Works Purchasing Program pursuant to the approved 2024 City budget. A detailed list of all items was attached and reviewed during the budgeting process. These items were bid out after January 1, 2024, and contracts were executed during the course of the year 2024.

In 2024, the Snow and Ice Control Program for Public Properties was advertised, and bids were received within the acceptable range. The attachment in Resolution 23-162 includes a column titled "Annual Amount," listing the requested funding for each item. The amount was generated based on expenditures during the winters of 2023 and 2024 which experienced more moderate weather conditions. This

The winter of 2025-2026 experienced above-average precipitation and lower-than-normal temperatures for longer durations, resulting in elevated usage of our Snow and Ice Control Program for Public Properties. To compound this issue, additional areas have been added to the spaces managed under this contract over the last 2 years.

Based on these factors, staff is requesting that the amount listed in Exhibit A of Resolution 23-162 be increased from $350,000 to $376,000 annually to allow snow and ice control services.
