Res No. 14-12 - 2014 Connectivity Plan Adopted; Adopted on 2/19/2014
Purpose & Explanation
The City of Hudson City Engineer would like to discuss with City Council and the Mayor the top sidewalk sections within the connectivity project that is budgeted for 2017. The budget amount is $100,000 in 2017 for a connectivity project.
Top sidewalk sections in the plan: (Parks Funding for trails):
#2 in the 2014 Connectivity Plan estimate = $272,700 (Eligible for ODOT Safe Routes Funding).
#4 in the 2014 Connectivity Plan estimate = $434,669. (Eligible for ODOT Safe Routes Funding).
#48 in the 2014 Connectivity Plan estimate = $190,400 (Eligible for AMATS funding).
#6 in the 2014 Connectivity Plan estimate = $ 156,000. (Eligible for AMATS funding).
#15 in the 2014 Connectivity Plan Current estimate = $200,000. (ODOT Safety Funding Application, Hudson should receive notice in mid-2017).
Safety issue Ravenna Street (205 Ravenna Street)
The City has an existing trail from Barlow Community Center to Ravenna Street that shall have a crosswalk/curb ramp at Ravenna Street on the south side of the road. There is none. The request is for a sidewalk along the north side of Ravenna St. from the trail to approximately #205 Ravenna Street to accommodate a visually impaired resident and to provide a safe sidewalk from the TLC Daycare to the trail, which they use daily. The City has an existing contract for concrete work in Hudson as part of our annual program, and we are requesting to add this additional cost ($40,000) to that contract, if approved by Council or to utilize the connectivity budgeted funds for this section of sidewalk.
Timing Considerations
If this is acceptable to City Council, the City Staff will put the additional concrete work on the next Council meeting for approval.
Fiscal Impact
X Currently Budgeted ($100,000 budget in 2017)
Supplemental Appropriation Required (Additional funds needed, based on decision above.)
Appropriation Not Required.
Recommendation
Suggested Action
We are requesting City Council approve the Ravenna St. sidewalk along the north side from the existing Barlow Community Center Trail to 205 Ravenna St., along with a crosswalk at the trail on Ravenna St. and declaring an emergency for the public health and welfare.
