Purpose & Explanation

The City's consultant has finished design of proposed storm water pond improvements at the City's property at 2217 Ravenna Street.  The project will modify two (2) existing, wet ponds on the property into a single larger, dry pond.  The project will provide additional storm water storage to alleviate flooding to downstream properties.  The pond improvements are being constructed in a manner that will leave the northerly portion of the CIty parcel open for future construction needs.

The project’s estimated cost is $500,000 which includes a 10% contingency.   The project is scheduled for construction in the spring/summer, 2025 as weather permits.

To help offset costs, staff anticipates requesting usage of $300,000 of the City’s Community Cost Share Funds that have been collected by the North East Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD).  NEORSD allocates 25% of annual stormwater fees from each member community to a Community Cost-Share account. These funds are then disbursed to through a grant application and reimbursement process for stormwater management projects.
