Body

Legislative History

RESOLUTION NO. 23-64 - A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract with TK Elevator Corporation.

Purpose & Explanation

In 2023 staff solicited a licensed elevator contractor from the Ohio State terms contract list to complete the City Hall elevator modernization and upgrade.   Unfortunately, after  discussions between the vendor, City Administration, and the City Solicitor, the City Manager could not accept the company’s terms, since they required us to pay a considerable amount of the cost in advance with an unknown schedule or bond.  As such, an award of contract could not be executed.

City Administration has since located the buildings and technical engineering consulting company of Lerch Bates in Akron, Ohio, specializing in elevator modernization projects. Lerch Bates can provide project documents, assist with the bidding process and construction management as needed.

The scope of the contractor’s work will include all building code upgrades required to complete the modernization of the elevator system (Fire, Electrical, HVAC).
