Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER FOR THE GAZEBO LEGACY PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

Brief Description:   This project involves significant renovation work to the gazebo in honor of Americans 250th including railing repair, concrete replacement, enhanced landscaping, and a performance platform.

Purpose & Explanation

The project design and specifications are in process for this project.  The administration is seeking Council approval to proceed with bidding and award of a construction contract for the Gazebo Legacy Project.  The project scope of work is estimated at $180,000.

A Lets Talk Hudson Engagement page has been established and will be active from February 5th to February 15th to collect further community input ahead of Councils consideration on February 17th.  

 

Timeline:

Council authorization - February 17, 2026

Design - February - March, 2026

Bid and Award - March - April 2026

Construction Commencement - May 1, 2026

Completion and open to the community  - July 4, 2026

 

Capital Budget funding:

$65,000 (Gazebo Renovations)

$75,000 (Hawk Signal Reappropriation)

$40,000 (Annual Concrete Repair Program)

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council approve this Resolution authorizing the City Manager to bid the project and award to the contractor with the lowest and best bid and requesting an emergency in order to complete this project by the July 4th holiday.
