Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH AA SANITATION FOR SERVICING OF CITY OUTDOOR REFUSE AND RECYCLING RECEPTACLES.

Brief Description:   The Public Works Department budgets annually for contract refuse and recycling services for public properties and in the downtown business district.     The Public Works Department seeks City Council approval to enter into a contract with AA Sanitation for these services.

Body

Legislative History

Resolution 18-188, approved on December 18, 2018, authorized staff to seek competitive pricing on goods and services including refuse cans.

Purpose & Explanation

Bids were received on September 4, 2019 for the Recycling and Refuse Cans Servicing.  These trash and recycling cans are located in and around the downtown area and around Barlow Community Center.  This is a two-year contract with an optional 2-year renewal.  Below is the previous contracted price which included a $5,000 contingency for unexpected   additional trash and recycling pick-ups.

Previous Contracted Price: $33,080.00

New Bid Submittal:

AA Sanitation (only bid submitted) - $29,640.00

Recycling cans will be emptied twice per week at $4.50 per service and trash cans will be emptied three times per week at $4.50 per service.  There are forty-two (42) cans included in this service contract.  This low bid represents a 5.56% increase over the previous contract.

The City Administration is requesting City Council authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with AA Sanitation for the Recycling and Refuse Cans Servicing.  Staff is requesting a $5,000 contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise including unplanned or unexpected clean-ups.  The total amount would be $34,640.00.

Total Contract = $34,640.00  ($29,640.00 base bid + $5,000 contingency)
