Title

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 2024 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Brief Description:  The ordinance would adopt the City’s update to the Comprehensive Plan.

Body

Legislative History

The City of Hudson’s first Comprehensive Plan was adopted in August 1995 following merger of the former Township and Village.  An update to the Comprehensive Plan was adopted August 4, 2004.  The current plan was adopted by City Council on January 19, 2016 per Ordinance 2015-124.

Purpose & Explanation

The Comprehensive Plan identifies long-term community priorities regarding land use, infrastructure, transportation, parks and recreation, and community services/facilities.  The plan has been led by the Council appointed Steering Committee over the previous 18 months along with consultant OHM advisors and City Staff.  Following an extensive program of public engagement and committee discussion, The Steering Committee unanimously recommended forwarding the draft plan to City Council at the committee meeting on May 22, 2024.

The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on July 22, 2024 and continued discussion to the meeting of August 12, 2024.  The Planning Commission forwarded a recommendation to approve the plan with conditions listed within the attached decision.  The City staff and the Committee Chair and Vice Chair are available to incorporate desired PC recommendations along with recommendations from City Council into and updated draft document prior to final consideration of the plan.
