Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH IRON CLAW ENGINEERING LLC FOR ENGINEERING, DESIGN AND QUALITY CONTROL FOR THE FIBER TO THE HOME PROJECT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $100,000 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

Brief Description:  This contract is to assist and supplement City staff with engineering, design and quality control services for all phases of the Velocity Broadband fiber to the home (FTTH) network project.

Body

Legislative History

Resolution 25-49 authorized advertising for bids and entering into a contract for construction of the FTTH pilot project.

Purpose & Explanation

Staff issued a request for proposal and obtained and reviewed proposals from four firms and found Iron Claw to be the best choice.  They provided a focused response, relevant example projects, itemized the costs the way we asked, and were clear that the fees were fixed regardless of volume used. City staff will perform much of the engineering and design of the project in-house.  Iron Claw also provided the lowest rates for the major categories of service as highlighted on Exhibit A, attached.
