Brief Description: This project is for the resurfacing of Ravenna Road from Old Mill Road to the Portage County Line. Approximately 0.75 miles of this stretch of roadway is within the City of Hudson.

Purpose & Explanation
Summit County has secured an Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funds in the amount of $600,000 for the resurfacing of the portion of Ravenna Road from Old Mill Road to the Portage County Line. The $600,000 grant covers 80% of the total resurfacing cost of $750,000. The remaining 20%, or $150,000 of the resurfacing costs, will be shared between Summit County and the City of Hudson. The project includes resurfacing, base repairs, construction of four (4) foot wide paved shoulders, where practical, and replacement of pavement markings.
The $600,000 AMATS grant covers the construction phase of the project which includes the resurfacing work plus inspection and testing during construction. The construction phase of the project requires the 20% match from the local agencies. The City of Hudson will be responsible for the 20% matching funds for all work within the City of Hudson, and the City and County will each pay half of the required matching funds for those items that span both communities. The project length is 1.36 miles of which approximately 0.75 miles (55% of project length) is in the City of Hudson. The total estimated cost that the City of Hudson would be responsible for is $82,500 ($150,000 x 55%) plus a 10% contingency bringing the total not to exceed construction costs to $90,750.
The Design costs are not eligible for the AMATS grant funding and will be shared 50/50 between Summit County and the City of Hudson. The total cost of Design is estimated at $115,000. Therefore, the City’s cost would be $57,500 plus a 10% contingency bringing the total City design cost to $63,250.00.
In summary, the design and construction costs for the Ravenna Road Resurfacing project are estimated at $115,000 and $750,000, respectfully. The total project cost is estimated at $865,000 ($115,000 + $750,000). The City’s project costs for design and construction (including contingency) are $63,250 and $90,750, respectfully. The City’s total project cost is estimated at $154,000 ($63,250 + $90,750).
The resurfacing work is scheduled for 2024/2025.

Staff recommends that City Council approve the Cooperation and Cost Sharing Agreement between the City of Streetsboro and the City of Hudson for the resurfacing of Stone Road.
