Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH EVERSTREAM SOLUTIONS LLC FOR THE PROVISION OF AN INTERNET CIRCUIT FOR THE CITY’S VELOCITY BROADBAND SERVICES.

Brief Description:   This request will enable Velocity Broadband to replace an existing Cogent and Windstream internet circuit that is set to end in late 2021.

Body

Legislative History

Resolution No. 15-187, authorizing an agreement with Windstream Communications for the provision of a secondary pathway for internet service for Velocity Broadband; passed November 17, 2015.

Resolution No. 16-140, amending the Windstream agreement to provide for a cross connect circuit for Velocity Broadband; passed August 30, 2016.

Purpose & Explanation

This resolution will enable staff to replace the existing circuit provided by Windstream and Cogent Communications which is scheduled to end in late 2021. This new circuit will have a 2 Gig commit, be geographically diverse, and support higher bandwidth services should they ever be needed. The total value of this three-year contract is $82,800, at a monthly rate of $2,300. This rate is below state term vendor pricing as listed on Ohio DAS MSA0036. Based on our current monthly cost of $2,610 for the service from Windstream and Cogent, this new circuit will save Velocity Broadband $310 per month.
