Purpose & Explanation
This project consists of the replacement of the Emergency Generator Backup for the Safety Center which is needed for the ongoing operations in the event of a short or mid-term power outage.  Currently due to issues with the existing generator, a trailer mounted city generator is currently providing emergency backup power to the Safety Center.
 
Following the review of the lowest bidder, by the City's Engineer's Office and the City's Engineering Consultant, Grabo Electrical Services, LLC, and based on the recommendation of Grabo Electrical Services, LLC (see attached letter), we recommend Emery Electric, Inc. be awarded the bid for the Safety Center Emergency Generator Replacement Project.
 
Bid were received on Tuesday, April 17, 2013.  Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.

The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Emery Electric, Inc. for the Safety Center Emergency Generator Project.  The Engineering Staff is requesting a 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction for a total contract amount of $102,300.00.
 
Total Project Cost = $102,300.00 ($93,000.00-Base + $9,300.00-10% Cont.)
Timing Considerations 
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Emery Electric, Inc. for the above.

Suggested Action
Staff recommends that City Council approve this resolution authorizing the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Emery Electric, Inc. and we are requesting an emergency clause be added to this legislation in order to maintain the public health and welfare.
