Resolution No. 21-39 - Authorized Permission to Bid and Award 2021 Sidewalk Improvement Projects; 4/20/2021
Purpose & Explanation
These sidewalk projects have been designed by our Engineering Staff and will include the installation of a 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along Herrick Park Drive (Lascala to SR 91); SR 91 (Garden Lane to the Twinsburg Twp. Line); SR 91 (Just north of Norton Road to Corporate Drive); and SR 303 (Nicholson Drive to W. Case Drive). The sidewalk construction includes storm drainage improvements, grading, crosswalks, lighting, fiber and electric conduits, driveways, and minor clearing & restoration.
The amendment to Resolution 21-39 is necessary due to the higher prices the engineering staff is seeing due to a limited number of contractors bidding due to excessive workloads in the construction industry in 2021, and the higher cost of materials due to shortages in materials.
The budget for design projects in 2021 have all come in under budget and the engineering staff would like to transfer $400,000 from the remaining design funds to the construction of sidewalks in 2021. The revised estimated total cost of construction of the four (4) projects is $1,969,900, which includes the contingency. The staff will return to City Council if the cost exceeds the above total cost of the projects.
The projects are scheduled for construction is the summer and fall of 2021.
