Purpose & Explanation
The project will replace the existing, 60 plus-year-old, 6” diameter cast iron water main on E. Case with a new 8” diameter water main from SR 303, approximately 830 feet south to Milford Road. The project also includes the replacement of water services between the main line and the right-of-way. This section of waterline has had approximately seven breaks since 2011 and is the Public Works staff’s No. 1 water distribution system maintenance issue. Besides reducing maintenance and interruptions to the residents, the new water line will improve fire flows in this area which feeds W. Case Drive and sections of W. Streetsboro Road.
The Engineering Department is designing the project in-house. Staff will be sharing the plans with nearby residents and offering site visits to discuss the project with the public prior to finalizing the design and bidding the project. The construction of the project is currently scheduled for the winter of 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in the Spring of 2024. The asphalt resurfacing of E. Case Drive, W. Case Drive and Lynn Drive are also scheduled for the fall of 2024, after completion of the waterline work.
Project Costs
The estimated cost of the E. Case Drive Watermain Replacement is $450,000, which includes a 10% contingency.

Staff recommends that City Council approve this authorization for the City Manager to advertise award, and enter into a contract for the E. Case Drive Waterline Replacement Projects.
