Brief Description:  Staff is requesting authorization to bid and award a contract for the addition of a weather awning over the double door entrance to the City Hall community rooms and a premanufactured canopy to cover a bench at the rear of the City Hall rear entry sidewalk adjacent to the existing parking lot.  The city received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant which will cover the majority of the project’s cost.

Purpose & Explanation

In 2022 the city applied for and was granted a Department of Community and Economic Development CDBG grant in the amount of $35,000 for the addition of a weather awning at the rear double door entrance to the City Hall community rooms and a premanufactured canopy to cover a bench at the end of the city hall rear entry sidewalk for seniors to wait for transportation in inclement weather. The building awning will match the existing awnings and the canopy will be an aluminum structure with a metal roof.

Project Budget:

Project estimate ----  $39,650.00 + 10% contingency = $43,615.00

CDBG Gant --------- $35,000.00

City Share------------ $4,660.00

Suggested Action

Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to competitively advertise, bid and award a contract to lowest and best bidder for this project in the amount not to exceed $43,615.00.
