Purpose & Explanation

Staff is seeking funding for the purchase and installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) in active-use Parks. Marci Matthews granted $3,200.00, the Grace Initiative Foundation Tree granted $3,200.00, the Starr Family Foundation granted $3,000, EMS Outreach of Hudson granted $1,500.00, Leadership Hudson Class of 2018 granted $3,000.00 and the Hudson Rotary Foundation, Inc. granted $3,000.00. Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the United States and can happen to anyone at any time. Less than 10 percent of victims survive. Thousands of people of all ages use the Hudson Parks every week for physical activities such as jogging, dog walking, soccer, baseball and basketball.  Access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart can double the chance of survival in the event of an unprecipitated cardiac event.
