Purpose & Explanation
Funding for the replacement purchase of one 50-foot aerial bucket truck for Hudson Public Power operations has been included in the 2014 fleet capital replacement budget. The truck's associated aerial lift system and equipment will be purchased from Utility Truck Equipment (UTE) utilizing the OHIO STS purchasing contract at a purchase price of $106,615.  The Fleet management staff was able to negotiate a trade-in allowance on the truck that is being replaced at a trade in value of $18,000, bringing the purchase cost of the unit lift system and associated equipment to $88,615.   
The HPP cab and chassis purchase appears on separate legislation at a purchase cost of $67,100.

 Timing Considerations
Staff seeks to have emergency legislation appear on the April 16, 2014 City Council meeting consent agenda to expedite meeting the purchase contract deadline and securing the equipment purchase.

Staff recommends City Council authorize the Interim City Manager to enter into a purchase agreement Utility Truck Equipment (UTE) 23893 US 23 South, PO box 130 Circleville, Ohio 43113-9003 in the amount of $88,615 for the purchase of specified associated aerial bucket truck lift system and equipment.
