AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1205 AND 1206 OF THE LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE RELEVANT TO REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO BOARDING KENNELS AND VETERINARY FACILITIES.

Purpose & Explanation

A draft resolution has been prepared to consider a 500 foot setback to residential uses for Boarding Kennels and Veterinary Facilities.  Boarding Kennels are currently permitted as conditional uses in D2.  Veterinary Facilities are currently permitted as conditional uses in D2, D5, D7, D7 Overlay, and D10.

Based on Council discussion on May 27, 2025, Staff has revised the draft ordinance to remove Boarding Kennels and Veterinary Facilities from D5 and D10.  Additionally, the amendment has been revised to add these as conditional uses to D6 and D8.  Additionally, a map has been attached to document the current facilities in the community and how they would be impacted by the proposed 500 ft setback.  Further study and analysis would be completed by the Planning Commission as part of its review and recommendation.
