Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT SOFTWARE WITH CALIX, INC.

Brief Description:  This contract would involve the purchasing of additional software services from Calix to upgrade the current Calix support software used by Velocity Broadband, providing enhanced service to customers.

Body

Legislative History

Resolution 25-47 authorized a three-year agreement for the purchase of equipment and professional support services.

Purpose & Explanation

This resolution will enable staff to add to our support software used with Velocity customer equipment. Given the residential FttH effort, this update is now warranted as it will allow residents access to additional security features, the ability for customers to better monitor their Velocity equipment, and provide Velocity staff with enhanced notifications, more granular security controls, and additional automation tools that reduce staff troubleshooting time. The support software has a $2.20 per month per customer fee on a 45 month term for an initial contract value of $90,190. This represents a $1.24 increase from the baseline software and includes a one-time $10,000 implementation fee. The software will be billed monthly and based on active Velocity customer count. Calix is the current vendor used by Velocity and which equipment at the customer premise is only designed to work with.
