Purpose & Explanation

This resolution authorizes staff to solicit bids and award a contract for materials required to construct the FTTH network, including conduit, fiber, closures, splicing components, demarcation and aerial hardware. Bidders will also be asked to provide procurement and material handling services to reduce on-site storage needs. The estimated value of this contract is $500,000, covering materials for the first-year build.  Staff will return to Council in the future if additional funding is needed.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that Council approve this resolution for the City Manager to advertise, receive bids and award to the lowest and best bidder per the City Charter for fiber to the home (FTTH) construction material.
