Body
Legislative History
Beginning in 2009 the City has annually applied and received a recycling grant from the SASWMA to promote recycling activities in Hudson.  (2012 resolution #12-21)

Purpose & Explanation
In 2012, the City of Hudson received a grant of $17,432.88 which was used to promote recycling and recycling education in Hudson.  The city was able to offer free curbside recycling bins, one official recycling drop-off center, recycling containers at the Hudson City Schools and promote recycling through our Get Caught Green Handed program as well as resident Recycling Guide flyers.
For 2013, the City is eligible for grant money in the amount of $18,333.78.  This is a reimbursable grant and does not require any matching funds from the City.  With these funds, the Public Works Department will continue its cooperative efforts with the aforementioned organizations and continue its advertising and public education programs.

Recommendation
Suggested Action
Staff recommends that Council pass a resolution giving the Public Works Department the authority to complete the SASWMA grant application.  Should we receive this grant, details will be discussed with the Environmental Awareness Committee and the funds will be distributed accordingly to fund the above mentioned recycling activities and continuing educational programs.
