Brief Description: The Public Works Department has budgeted funds for the replacement of two large trucks. The first is a cab and chassis truck with a snow/ice package. The second vehicle is a cab and chassis truck outfitted with a service bucket.

Purpose & Explanation
The Public Works Department has budgeted for the replacement of two vehicles in 2023. The first truck will replace Snow Truck 7757. This vehicle is 2011 and has exceeded its useful life. The vehicle has 48,775 miles and we have spent approximately $119,000 on maintenance during its lifespan. The pricing for the snow and ice package was obtained through Ohio STS Contract 800925 pricing from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. The pricing for the cab and chassis was obtained through ODOT contract pricing 23-23. The budgeted amount for the vehicle is $263,000.
Cab and Chassis Pricing- Freightliner Model 108SD $105,817.00
Snow and Ice Package- Bed, plow, hydraulics, etc. $147,244.01
Total Vehicle Amount $253,061.01
The second vehicle budgeted for replacement in 2023 is known as the HPP Trouble Truck. It is usually the first truck on scene during emergencies throughout the workday. This truck (5763) is a 2012 and it has also exceeded its useful life. It has approximately 112,000 miles and maintenance costs have been $58,000 during its lifespan. The pricing was obtained through Ohio STS contract pricing #800463. The budgeted amount for this vehicle is $293,733.

Timing Considerations
Staff is requesting the use of emergency language to hold pricing and expedite the ordering process.

Staff recommends City Council authorize the City Manager to order two (2) vehicles using three vendors. Utility Truck Equipment, Inc. is the vendor for the Hudson Public Power vehicle. Valley Freightliner, Inc. will be the vendor for the plow truck cab and chassis. Concord Road Equipment, Mfg. will be the vendor for the snow and ice package. Staff also requests the use of emergency language to hold pricing and expedite the ordering process.
