Resolution No. 17-200, permission to bid and/or obtain competitive pricing for 2018, passed December 27, 2017.

Purpose & Explanation

The traffic signal maintenance contract is currently held by the Signal Service Company located in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. The Public Works staff has consistently been pleased with Signal Service Company’s response time, professionalism and technical expertise. The existing contract allows for a two-year extension of the contract and Public Works has requested revised pricing for the extension option from the Signal Service Company.  The current hourly rate for a service vehicle and technician is $61.00/hr.  The newly submitted hourly rate is $62.00 /hr.  This new rate represents a 1.5% increase in the hourly rate.  A detailed bid tabulation has been attached for review.

Historically the Signal Service Company has provided traffic signalization system contract services to the city of Hudson by meeting the following contract requirements:

1.                     Specialized equipment - the nature of the specialized services required.

2.                     Years of service experience - familiarity with the City of Hudson’s signalization systems and components.

3.                     Response time - proximity of the company to the city of Hudson.
