Purpose & Explanation

The City has completed upgrades to fifteen signalized intersections along State Route (SR) 91 and SR 303, including installing a new traffic signal at the Owen Brown railroad overpass. These upgrades incorporate new Adaptive Signal technology, which centrally monitors, coordinates, and controls traffic lights along the "downtown" sections of both routes. This advanced system utilizes real-time data from video sensors to dynamically adjust signal timings, aiming to improve traffic flow, reduce driver delays, and enable quicker responses for emergency vehicles.

These improvements are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to enhance traffic efficiency and public safety; our traffic engineering consultant, TMS, will soon provide a performance update on the system since its implementation this past July.

Fiscal Impact

                       Currently Budgeted
