Purpose & Explanation

Staff is seeking funding from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services, through an EMS Priority One Training and Equipment Grant to fund training and/or equipment listed on the Training and Equipment List/Expenditures Form as approved by the Ohio Emergency Medical, Fire and Transportation Services (EMFTS) Board.  There is no mandatory match.

The grant program is funded through the fines levied in the State of Ohio for seat belt violations.  Previous funding amounts, determined by rank of needs-based score and total funding available, have varied:

2017 - $4,800

2018 - $5,617

2019 - $1,128

2020 - $3,539

2021 - $3,562

2022 - $759 (Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the availability of funds decreased significantly)

2023 - $3,548.02

Staff recommends passage of this Resolution to affirm submission by the City Manager’s Designee of an application to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services, for an EMS Priority One Training and Equipment Grant.
