Title

2026 Art on the Green

Brief Description: Discussion on downtown location option for 2026 Art on the Green and accompanying considerations from staff and Hudson Society of Artists Art on the Green committee.

Body

Legislative History

None.

Purpose & Explanation

Following the announcement of JOANN’s Corporation and store closures, current host site of the annual Art on the Green, the Hudson Society of Artists approached the City to explore alternative locations for the 2026 event. Both committee members and local residents voiced strong support for keeping the beloved event within Hudson, ideally situated among the downtown greens. In response, City staff convened internally to evaluate the feasibility of accommodating a large-scale event in the downtown area and to address previous safety concerns associated with past events held at that location.

Timing Considerations

The Art on the Green Committee would like confirmation on location by August 2025 to ensure they do not lose vendors and can advertise at their upcoming event.

Fiscal Impact

                       Currently Budgeted (Account #, $)

Supplemental Appropriation Required (Account #, $)

X                       Appropriation Not Required.

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends City Council confirm the 2026 Art on the Green will be hosted on the developed greens (Clocktower, Gazebo, Park Lane/Merino, and First & Main) in downtown with the identified safety and logistical considerations outlined in this memo.
