Executive Summary:  The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Traffic Records Coordinating Committee provides funding for traffic safety and data collection activities, and the City’s grant application for assistance to benefit the Summit Metro Crash Response Team has been accepted.

Resolution 17-59 authorized the City Manager’s Designee’s application for funding, passed April 4, 2017.

Purpose & Explanation

The Summit Metro Crash Response Team, of which the City of Hudson is a member, received a $30,000 grant from the Summit County Emergency Management Agency for a Faro Focus laser scanner.  The Summit Metro Crash Response Team sought additional funding for additional hardware accessories, software and training for twelve team members. 

The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Traffic Records Coordinating Committee has approved $25,958.60 for equipment, software and training.  The Ohio Department of Transportation will purchase the equipment, software and training directly on behalf of the Hudson Police Department to benefit the Summit Metro Crash Response Team.

Timing Considerations

Notice of approval and intent to purchase equipment was received on August 19, 2017.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council affirm the City Manager’s acceptance of the equipment, software and training valued at $25,958.60 and purchased by the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Traffic Records Coordinating Committee.
