Purpose & Explanation
The global positioning equipment (GPS) and monitoring services project has been phased in over the past eight (8) years to include all Public Works and Parks vehicles. With the addition of the Parks Department vehicles in 2013 the system is currently comprised of 89 units at an annual monitoring and maintenance cost of $33,635
The GPS Insight Company is the sole source professional services vendor for the City's GPS monitoring and Software applications.
GPS tracking reduces fuel costs, improves productivity, improves customer service, improves fleet safety, makes the fleet greener, and reduces labor costs by providing managers with real-time data/information, alerts, and reports on fleet activities 24/7.
With annual GPS monitoring charges exceeding $25,000, The Public Works Department seeks to renew said services for the 2014 year.
