Executive Summary: Included in the 2013 budget is a Network Systems Administrator. Staff is requesting Council’s confirmation of filling the position. We have included a job description as a separate attachment.

Purpose & Explanation
As part of the Information Systems department presentation in January 2013, staff provided justification for adding the new position. The emphasis of the need for the additional help was the significant growth of the City’s network and the anticipated continued growth in software administration. Council was generally supportive but we wanted to give Council an opportunity to make further inquiries before we move forward.
Timing Considerations
To allow time for advertising, interviewing, screening, etc, the estimated starting date for the person would be early July.
