Purpose & Explanation
The final design of the Boston Mills Road Trail and Sidewalk Project includes a new, 8' wide asphalt trail from an existing trail on the north side of Boston Mills Road near 100 Executive Parkway to Lake Forest Drive. See attached project map.

A Preliminary Alignment Study was completed for this trail project in September 2021 which determined the best and most cost-effective alignment for the trail along Boston Mills Road and future sidewalk along Lake Forest Drive The preliminary study also reviewed the bridge crossing at Lake Forest and also identified that realigning the intersection of Lake Forest Drive and Boston Mills Road would improve safety for both vehicles and pedestrians at the intersection. This final design of the trail project will implement the recommendations of the Preliminary Alignment Study for the new trail, bridge over Lake Forest and intersection realignment. The future sidewalk along Lake Forest Drive and any intersection improvements will be addressed in separate, future improvement designs.

A request for final design proposals for this project was sent to six (6) engineering design firms: GPD Group, AECOM, Environmental Design Group, LJB, Michael Baker, and Transystems.
