Brief Description:  City Council seeks to create and define the role of a Clerk of Council Pro Tempore, who will serve in the absence or disability of the Clerk of Council.

Purpose & Explanation

In the absence or disability of the Clerk of Council, the role of a Clerk of Council Pro Tempore is necessary for timely and orderly meetings of this Council. In recent meetings there was temporarily a question as to who would serve in that role, essentially as acting clerk.

 

It has been suggested that an administrative solution is more advisable and creates a consistent approach to the business of Council.

Suggested Action

That the Codified Ordinances of Hudson be amended to create the role of Clerk of Council Pro Tempore, that the Code define the circumstances of his or her appointment, and that his or her duties and authority be established.
