Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR PROVIDING WHOLESALE VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL SERVICE TO VELOCITY BROADBAND AND ITS CUSTOMERS.

Executive Summary:   This project will include the delivery and configuration of wholesale voice over internet protocol (VOIP) provider to provide voice and telecom services to Velocity Broadband.

Body

Legislative History

None.

Purpose & Explanation

This resolution will seek a replacement wholesale voice over internet protocol provider that can deliver the same quality and value of services currently being provided to Velocity Broadband. Staff feels that rates in the wholesale market have potentially been reduced while still maintaining or adding to the available feature sets. Should a new vendor be selected, staff will coordinate and migrate all voice services to the new vendor with little to no customer service interruption.

At this time, the anticipated budget for this project will not exceed the available VOIP budget within the VBB operations fund. Should additional appropriations be needed, staff would return for council approval.
