Brief Description:   This legislation seeks approval of the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement that was negotiated by the City Manager with the Utility Workers Union of America Local 588 and authorization for the City Manager to enter into said agreement.

Purpose & Explanation

Staff recommends that Council pass the attached legislation to authorize the City Manager to enter into a new three-year bargaining agreement, effective January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023, which covers terms and conditions of employment and other related matters for the Utility Workers Union of America, Local 588, bargaining unit members.  The agreement has been ratified by Union membership. 

Utility Workers Contract 2020-2023 Changes:

1.                     Duration - Three-years - Effective January 1, 2021 - December 31, 2023

2.                     Wages/Compensation:

                       Effective January 1, 2021:  2.0% increase

                      Effective January 1, 2022:  2.0% increase

                      Effective January 1, 2023:  2.0% increase

        

Timing Considerations

The current agreement will expire on December 31, 2020, and the new agreement will be effective January 1, 2021.
