Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on March 24, 2015 for the 2015 Concrete Replacement and Overlay Program. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate: $601,583.50
Catts Construction $657,682.90

Included in the bid was concrete panel replacement along SR 8. The total for this portion of the work is $118,570.40.
New sidewalk along Boston Mills Road (E. Streetsboro to Stratford Road, N. Side) and W. Prospect Street (West drive of St. Mary's Church to South side of Morse Road) was also included in the bid, these sidewalk portions are part of the sidewalk connectivity plan. The total for these 2 sections of sidewalk is $231,019.00.
The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Catts Construction for the 2015 Concrete Replacement and Overlay Program. The Engineering Staff is requesting contingency in the amount of $32,884.15 for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction. The total contract amount would be $690,567.05
Total Contract = $690,567.05 ($657,682.90-base + $32,884.15-contingency)
The total bid was over the Engineer's estimate, but is still within the allowable 10% amount. Due to the bid coming in over the Engineer's estimate, City staff is asking for an appropriation in the amount of $51,686.85.
