Discussion:  City of Hudson Storm Water System Ranking

Executive Summary:  The City Staff has created a draft ranking of the City’s Storm Water System in an effort to identify those facilities requiring improvement, repair or replacement.

Purpose & Explanation

The City Staff has generated a ranking of the City’s storm water infrastructure to identify those components that have the highest need of replacement or improvement.  The rankings were generated for the following four categories: (1) regional storm water improvements and floodplains (2) bridges and culverts, (3) trunk storm sewers and (4) work orders.  In addition, cost estimates for repairs or improvements top ranking projects within the public storm water system were identified.  The rankings can be found on the attached spreadsheets with corresponding maps.

The City Staff created and generated these rankings with Hudson staff by utilizing information found in the City’s GIS database, watershed studies and review and input by the Public Works staff. 

Timing Considerations

The City will be utilizing the approved Storm Water System Ranking for future prioritization of Capital Budget requests.

Suggested Action

Following input and refinement of the final draft storm water rankings, the rankings can be used to prioritize budget requests for the future, high-priority capital improvements as noted and in coordination with several upcoming roadway and other capital improvements.
