Title
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK, LLC; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Executive Summary: The request is to renew and upgrade the City’s emergency communications services, which includes our Reverse 9-1-1 calling and text messages service.
Body
Legislative History
None.
Purpose & Explanation
As we continue to enhance our methods of communication during a crisis, we would like to renew our current emergency communications contract and upgrading the service to allow us to use the calling system for urgent situations that are not considered an emergency. Such situations would include water main breaks, major road closures or other situations that would require immediate communications, but are not classified as emergencies. The upgrade also includes automatic, real-time updates of the 9-1-1 telephone database, which currently is being updated every two years at additional time and expense. The three-year service contract is less expensive than on a year-to-year basis. The total amount will be split into annual payments.
Timing Considerations
The current contract is expiring and we are requesting the renewal and upgrade to avoid disruption of service.
