Brief Description: Hudson Fire has been evaluating uses for operational drones for almost two years. We have had numerous sales demonstrations and seen various drone options. We have determined that the best option available for our purposes is a tethered, autonomous, pilotless, continuous use drone with a combination live visual optic and thermal imaging platform.

Purpose & Explanation
Hudson Fire found a manufacturer that has all of our desired features in a portable drone unit. The Fotokite Sigma unit is capable of more than 24 hours of continuous flight, acting as our hands free "eye in the sky" feeding our Command Post valuable situational awareness information during an emergency that would be almost impossible get in any other way. This unit fly's up to 150' off the ground and gives you a 360-degree view of your scene with simple rotation and zoom capabilities from your phone. We anticipate common uses like Incident Command surveys, fire location operations, search and rescue, HazMat scene size up, forest fire locating, missing person searches, roof top hot spot locating just to name a few. We have attempted to acquire grants for this costly piece of equipment for the last eighteen months without success. When we first saw this drone, the base cost was $34,000. With cost increases and additional equipment costs, the current total price is $49,010.00 secured through 12/25/24. We are requesting to make the purchase now from Atlantic Emergency Solutions before next years anticipated price increase. Atlantic is the sole source supplier for all Fotokite products for 7 states including Ohio. The sole source validation letter is attached along with the price quote.
