Purpose & Explanation
Bids were opened on April 15, 2014. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate= $38,647.00
Asphalt Fabrics & Specialties, Inc. $20,910.00
PS Construction Fabrics $21,105.00
Aero-Mark, Inc. $34,601.00
Scodeller Construction $43,300.00
The Engineering Staff is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Asphalt Fabrics & Specialties, Inc. for the 2014 Crack Sealing Program. The Engineering staff would also like to award all of the alternate streets at a cost of $82,800.00. The Alternates that are being added are those streets that were discussed during the road tour.
Total Project Cost = $103,710.00 ($20,910-main contract + $82,800-alternates)
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Asphalt Fabrics & Specialties, Inc. for the above work.

Suggested Action
Staff recommends that City Council approve this Resolution authorizing the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Asphalt Fabrics & Specialties, Inc. for the 2014 Crack Sealing Program and we are requesting an emergency clause be added to this legislation in order to maintain the public health and welfare.
